Answers to the most common questions from our clients — about the method, results, safety and the studio.
About the EMS method
Is EMS safe?
Yes, within the contraindication framework set by manufacturer MIHA BODYTEC. Before the first session, every client fills in and signs the official contraindications questionnaire. With more than 1000 clients trained since 2020 — every session run by a certified trainer — EMS remains one of the safest training methods for those with joint sensitivity or returning to sport after a long break.
Does it really work with 1 session a week?
Yes. One session a week is enough for most goals: toning, body recomposition, mild lower-back pain relief, maintenance. The intensity requires at least 48 hours of muscle recovery. Anyone seeking faster results can move to 2 sessions a week with the Premium plan.
What does a session feel like?
It's not electricity in the sense of a shock or a burn. It's a deep muscle vibration — a contraction more or less intense depending on how the trainer adjusts each muscle. Intensity is always adapted to your response and never beyond your limit.
Will I be sore the next day?
Often yes, especially in the first 3 to 4 sessions. Good muscle soreness — a sign that the muscles were engaged in depth. It usually appears 2 days after the session and is comparable to a strong strength workout.
Does the suit get wet?
Yes. The tech suit has electrodes that need to be dampened to conduct the impulse. That's exactly why the studio has a changing room with shower, towel and toiletries.
I'm not a sporty person — can I do EMS?
Yes, no problem at all. EMS is open to anyone over 18 — including people who haven't exercised in years. Intensity is fully adjustable and matched to your individual response.
About results
When will I start to see effects?
From session 5 you feel the first effects: more firmness, better posture. From week 8 (about 8 to 12 sessions) results are visible in the mirror and measurable. From week 12 the results consolidate. These timelines assume 1 to 2 sessions per week with consistency and coherent lifestyle habits.
Does EMS make you lose weight?
EMS supports body fat reduction and recomposition — losing fat while keeping (or gaining) active muscle mass. The scale may even rise slightly in the first weeks (more muscle = more weight), but what matters is the silhouette in the mirror, the reduction in measurements and the increase in firmness — not the number on the scale.
Does EMS reduce cellulite?
The combination of deep muscle contraction and microcirculation activation contributes to improved skin texture in commonly affected areas (thighs, glutes, abdomen). It's not an immediate effect — it's the cumulative result of several weeks of regular stimulus.
Will I get too muscular?
No. The muscle mass gained through EMS is functional and balanced, not hypertrophied. The method produces more defined contours and greater muscle density, but doesn't turn the body into a bodybuilder physique.
Do the results last if I stop?
As with any training, full interruption leads to a progressive regression of gains. In maintenance, 1 session per week is enough to preserve the results obtained.
Session and logistics
How long does a session last?
25 minutes of effective training. Total time at the studio: 35 to 40 minutes, including suit-up, training, undressing and shower. The first trial session is 15 minutes of training and 40 to 45 minutes at the studio.
Do I need to bring anything?
Practically nothing. Tech suit, underlayer, towel and toiletries are provided by the studio. We just recommend bringing a water bottle.
Can I eat before the session?
Yes, with common sense. Avoid heavy meals 1 to 2 hours before the session. After the session, we recommend waiting around 30 minutes before eating, and hydrating well.
Can I come with a friend / partner?
Yes. The studio has two MIHA BODYTEC machines and can host two people at once, with the same individual coaching format.
How do I book my first session?
The fastest way is WhatsApp to +351 964 684 718. We confirm same-day. We're flexible with the calendar — there's often availability on the same or next day.
Can I cancel a session?
Yes, with 24 hours' notice whenever possible. Cancellations under 24 hours may forfeit the session depending on your pack or plan.
Contraindications
What are the main contraindications?
The official MIHA BODYTEC list includes absolute contraindications (pregnancy, pacemaker, severe heart conditions, cancer in treatment, epilepsy, untreated hypertension, diabetes mellitus, bleeding disorders, abdominal hernias, arrhythmias, recent surgery) and relative ones (varicose veins, prostheses, regular medication, acute back pain, etc.).
Can I do EMS after surgery?
Not in the first 2 months after any surgery. After that period, and depending on the type of surgery, we recommend explicit medical authorisation before starting.
Can I do EMS during pregnancy?
No. Pregnancy is an absolute contraindication. We recommend waiting 6 to 8 weeks after birth (more in case of caesarean) and explicit medical clearance before resuming.
What if I have back issues?
It depends. If the pain is mild to moderate chronic, with no acute disc herniation, EMS is often recommended to strengthen the deep core muscles. With acute disc herniation or undiagnosed issues, it becomes a relative contraindication — we assess case by case.
I have a metal prosthesis / implant — can I do EMS?
Metal prostheses older than 6 months are a relative contraindication — we assess case by case and adjust electrode placement. Electronic implants (pacemaker, defibrillator) are an absolute contraindication.
